So we have been trailing on coronavirus and lots of countries have been going a full transformation of the economy and the global economic crisis is around here since 2008 of the great depression. But amid that India Nepal Border dispute emerged is kinda shocking.
The economies collapsing and people adopting social distancing norms is on the way. India and other nations are fighting the world with COVID-19 crisis.
Let’s start with the story of India Nepal border Dispute:-
We have been watching in movies about the apple of discord between two brothers, with that so-called “apple of discord” tries a conspiracy and organises fight between them.
After the fight, nothing was left for the two brothers and the so-called “discord” took all the property and they fly them out of their own home.
Well, its the sad reality that this happens in real too, we are talking about the Nepal which has released a controversial(Years before it was not!) remarks on a map claiming three regions of Uttarakhand named Lipulekh, Kalapaani and Limpiyadhura.
The Twitter Mix up:-
So we go back to 2nd May 2020 CGTN is the official website for China Global Television Network, which brings a Chinese perspective to global news, tweets on twitter claiming Mt Everest to be their region and on 10th of may the reformed the tweet with replacing it with China – Nepal border
Fabrication in social media works just in hands!!! We took the news and some people of Nepal and they aren’t enranged by what china did and deleted at last. This shows how the Chinese government and Nepal government had ties so they can manipulate any agenda to spread discomfort and around the local public for their benefits of power.
Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane has said there were reasons to believe that Nepal objected to the road at the behest of “someone else”, in an apparent reference to a possible role by China on the matter.
This is Big!! As MEA said that it could be resolved by the diplomatic and formal way but Nepal is said it is no mood for the discussion it professionally. As the orchestrated plot by China to get inside the Indian territory.
Let’s Understand with the history of how it began in first place
Nepal and India share a border of 1,690 Kms. But there is no conflict on 98% to 99% of the Lands between the border, But the Lipulekh, Kalapaani & Limpiyadhura. This dispute has a history which led to some tensions due to political turmoils in Nepal government.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gifts nation a new 80-km road in Uttarakhand on 8th of May,2020.
The new 80 km-long greenfield road from Ghatiabgarh to Lipulekh was made under directions of the China Study Group (CSG) and is funded by Indo-China Border Road (ICBR) and is scheduled to be completed by December 2022.
This road was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in 2005 at a cost of ₹80.76 crores and in 2018 the cost was revised to ₹439.40 crores. which connects close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and opens a new route for Kailash Mansarovar yatra via Lipulekh Pass, significantly reducing the travel time for yatris from 2 weeks to one week.
Kailash Mansarover Project:
Let’s do some maps
There are two ways you can reach Kailash Mansarovar and It’s kinda heavy on pockets of Yatris
- Through the Sikkim from Nathula Pass to Tibet, which China claimed the Tibet region, that’s why people have to take Chinese Visas to visit the Kailash Mansarover which indeed increasing the cost of travel. (Pic 2)
- The second road goes from Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, pretty long distance of about 110 kilometres. (Pic 1)
The third road off course 74.6 Km where yatris can travel through driving.
Lipulekh pass is an important socio-economic corridor for Tibet – Indian Trade and Imports.
ICBR has been working on this Road from 2008, But Nepal didn’t get problems at that Time and China didn’t take a stand. But Cabinet approved it in 2018 and in 2 years the road has been completed.
The Geographical conditions there were very Fragile as its about 1400 feet above the sea level, So it required a level of highly trained engineers to work on, You would see the beauty of the road, Its a kind of “modern marvel” maybe discovery channel would have an episode of the roads sometime.
This is a place where the trijunction of the countries India-China-Nepal, This an Indian territory but Nepal made it a disputed territory.
In Kalapaani, pithorahgarh has a river named MahaKaali,
When British divided India and Nepal the border was on based on the different Rivers, but sometimes they forget in pressurised and provocative things that they have been claiming the river starts from the first waterfall of the Mahakaali river.
If this happens Nepal will have about 32 sq. km of land.
And, if the so-called first waterfall is then 89% of Lipulekh, falls in Nepal.
Formally Nepal considered the Lipulekh in just papers to India but China allegedly has pushed Nepal to get the deal for India Nepal Border Dispute.
That’s all let’s dig in more history
In the 19th century, there was a cold war between British India – China -Russia, the British army had been dodging people away from India which Nepal has captured some states from Sikkim and Uttarakhand.
This caused many wars between Nepal and British India between 1814 – 1816 and Nepal was been moved back by the British Army and same year they had the Agreement named “Sugauli Agreement” (Now in Champaran, Bihar) That they had an agreement that they won’t claim their land back.
This also escalated wars among British India and Nepal Army. As the conquest started the British Army scaled down to Capital of Nepal, Kathmandu.
Once again Nepal did an agreement and gave some areas of Nepal to British India(East India Company).
In 1857, the freedom struggle was back robbed by Nepal Army supporting the British Army.
In 1858, Nepal and British army reached Lucknow to oppress the freedom Struggle India.
Being happy for supported British India in the war British India gave some lands to Nepal lowland(foothills of Himalaya) as a gift i.e Janakpur and Kapilvastu are included in the lowland areas.
In 1865, there was a reconstruction of the Indo-Nepal border and Nepal claimed that those starting so-called ‘first waterfall’ was not given by British to Nepal That’s why they have been claiming the area.
Nepal also claims that in 2015 India did a blockade, which led to fewer trade relations and financial loss to Nepal.
In Reality, it was done due to political turmoil and disaster among the Madveshi people protesting so it was impossible to control it and Indian Government put a blockade to stop the protests until the situation calms down a little.
After those differences, China has tried to get in the internal politics of Nepal and making them do things in their own way making them go an anti-India policy.
Nepal has a communist government that makes them like the communist running in China, (they got something common suddenly!)
Some days back the Ambassador of China came to meet Mr Pusp Kamla Dahal, The Director of Nepal Communist party and they actually wanted to throw out KP Oli from the Prime Ministers Office
With that China is not happy so he made to travel two times on one week in to dissolved the matter with a conspiracy while playing an internal politics in Nepal and They would try to save his position as PM of Nepal and China can play its conspiracy from behind.
In India, there are almost 20 to 25 lakh Nepal Citizens in which about 10 lakh people do labour work. This is what now they are expecting to do.
Cmon guys history is over. Now the current update.
Now the opposition party called the Nepali Congress has supported KP Oli to and Nepal govt tables bill to alter country’s map amid border dispute with India over Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura.
India is monitoring the current situation in Nepal, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said referring to Kathmandu deferring a plan to bring in a constitutional amendment to validate a new map that depicted Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura as its territory.
“India is open to engaging with all its neighbours on the basis of mutual sensitivity and mutual respect, in an environment of trust and confidence. This is a continuous process and requires constructive and positive efforts,”
Why is it a Quid Pro Quo?
President Xi Jinping has wrapped up a landmark visit to Nepal, the first by a Chinese president in 23 years, with 20 deals signed and nearly $500m in financial aid pledged amid Beijing’s growing influence in the impoverished Himalayan nation.
During delegation-level talks with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Saturday, Xi announced 56 billion rupees ($492m) in economic assistance for Nepal over the next two years, an official told the Kathmandu Post on condition of anonymity.
Hopefully, the point is that even some are making conspiracy theories but the events listed in the order have some impact that Chinese are trying to hide behind all this move of Nepal, which China denies.
We also know that money talks and countries can have a soft side on other countries which help them and provide foreign direct investments in the country, but this should be solved peacefully and in a diplomatic way. Peace!
